MANILA, Philippines – Opposition bets and former senators Kiko Pangilinan and Bam Aquino are storming Cavite on Tuesday, February 11, to formally launch their bid for the 2025 senatorial race.
Banking on the so-called “Leni magic,” the two will hold their kick-off rally in Dasmariñas City Arena at around 4 pm Tuesday. Cavite is among the vote-rich provinces in the country.
Earlier in the day, the two attended a Holy Mass inside the University of the Philippines chapel with other Liberal Party-allied leaders, like former vice president Leni Robredo.
Celebrities Robi Domingo and Alex Calleja will serve as the rally’s hosts, while Pangilinan’s wife, Sharon Cuneta, will also be in attendance. The Philippines’ “mega star” was a staple during her husband’s vice presidential campaign in 2022.
OPM band Parokya ni Edgar, and singers Bayang Barrios and Nica del Rosario, who composed the Robredo campaign theme song, “Rosas,” will also perform during the rally.
Pangilinan and Aquino’s camp labeled the kick-off as a people’s rally, similar to the people-driven campaign of the Robredo-Pangilinan tandem three years ago.
