MANILA, Philippines – Lost Sabungeros will be making its big screen debut at the QCinema International Film Festival in November, GMA Public Affairs announced on Tuesday, October 22.
“Walang makapipigil sa katotohanan (Nothing can stop the truth). The previously canceled premiere of GMA Public Affairs and GMA Pictures’ first investigative docu-film Lost Sabungeros is finally set to make its debut at the QCinema International Film Festival,” GMA Public Affairs wrote on Facebook.
A documentary film by GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs, Lost Sabungeros was previously set to premiere at the Cinemalaya Film Festival in August, but was canceled due to “security concerns.” Its Cinemalaya slot was replaced with Kip Oebanda’s Balota, starring Marian Rivera.
Cinemalaya’s organizers did not specify what “security concerns” would arise if Lost Sabungeros were to be screened.
Lost Sabungeros was directed by Bryan Brazil. It revolves around the case of missing sabungeros (cockfighting aficionados), with the earliest incident said to have occurred in 2021. The documentary-film was nearly two years in the making.
Its first QCinema International Festival screening is set to happen on November 9 at Gateway Cinema 16 in Gateway Mall, Quezon City. There will also be a gala and question-and-answer session on this date.
Lost Sabungeros will also be screened on November 12 at 1:45 pm at Gateway Cinema 16 in Gateway Mall, Quezon City.
QCinema International Film Festival will run from November 8 to 17. Other films on the lineup include Lav Diaz’s Phantosmia, Sean Baker’s Anora, and Alexandre de La Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte’s The Count of Monte Cristo, among others. – Rappler.com
